Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is term that refers to a range of conditions that share some common symptoms, including Autistic disorder and Asperger’s disorder. The causes of ASD are unclear, however its symptoms include difficulties with problem solving, communicating, and social skills.
Children with autism spectrum disorder benefit from early intervention – the earlier, the better.
Gippsland Lakes Community Health offers a range of services that can assist in identifying and addressing some of the causes of developmental delays to families who are eligible for the Federal Government's the Helping Children With Autism early intervention funding package.
The Helping Children With Autism package provides individual and group programs to children who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, their families and carers. Programs are designed for the full participation of the parent and child.

The East Gippsland Autism and Asperger’s Support group provides a forum for parents or carers of people with Autism to socialise, support each other and share information.
