WorkHealth checks provide Victorian workers with the opportunity to receive a free convenient and confidential health check in the workplace.

Gippsland Lakes Community Health is an endorsed service provider and can deliver WorkHealth checks in your workplace.

By participating in these checks, workers will learn more about their risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes. The checks look at factors that impact personal health such as diet, exercise, smoking and alcohol consumption.

Each check takes about 15 – 20 minutes, with feedback and advice provided immediately based on results.

The benefits for workers include:

 A chance to learn more about your health

  • An increased awareness of your risk of preventable diseases such as cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes
  • Encouraging, positive ways to reduce risk factors and maintain good health
  • An opportunity to implement healthy eating and exercise programs at work

The benefits for employers include:

  • Improved productivity
  • Improved staff morale
  • Reduced absenteeism
  • Reduced presenteeism (remaining at work when unwell)

What are the costs?

Organisations with an annual remuneration of less than $10m will receive full reimbursement for the cost of the WorkHealth checks, meaning they are free.  

Organisations with an annual remuneration of over $10m will be charged $50 for each WorkHealth check. WorkSafe will reimburse $30 towards the cost of each, meaning the ultimate cost to your organisation will be $20 per WorkHealth check.
